Thinking about these and other statements made by the man who wears the title of president. I keep wondering what country he believes he’s president of.

In one of my very favorite stories, Edward Everett Hale’s “The Man without a Country,” a young Army lieutenant named Philip Nolan stands condemned for treason during the Revolutionary War, having come under the influence of Aaron Burr. When the judge asks him if he wishes to say anything before sentence is passed, young Nolan defiantly exclaims, “Damn the United States ! I wish I might never hear of the United States again!”

The stunned silence in the courtroom is palpable, pulsing. After a long pause, the judge soberly says to the angry lieutenant: “You have just pronounced your own sentence. You will never hear of the United States again.. I sentence you to spend the rest of your life at sea, on one or another of this country’s naval vessels – under strict orders that no one will ever speak to you again about the country you have just cursed.”

And so it was. Philip Nolan was taken away and spent the next 40 years at sea, never hearing anything but an occasional slip of the tongue about America. The last few pages of the story, recounting Nolan’s dying hours in his small stateroom – now turned into a shrine to the country he fore swore – never fail to bring me to tears. And I find my own love for this dream, this miracle called America , refreshed and renewed. I know how blessed and unique we are.

But reading and hearing the audacious, shocking statements of the man who was recently elected our president – a young black man living the impossible dream of millions of young Americans, past and present, black and white – I want to ask him, “Just what country do you think you’re president of?”

You surely can’t be referring to the United States of America, can you? America is emphatically a Christian nation, and has been from its inception! Seventy percent of her citizens identify themselves as Christian. The Declaration of Independence and our Constitution were framed, written and ratified by Christians. It’s because this was, and is, a nation built on and guided by Judeo-Christian biblical principles that you, sir, have had the inestimable privilege of being elected her president.

You studied law at Harvard, didn’t you, sir? You taught constitutional law in Chicago? Did you not ever read the statement of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and an author of the landmark “Federalist Papers”: ” Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers – and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation – to select and prefer Christians for their rulers”?

In your studies, you surely must have read the decision of the Supreme Court in 1892: “Our lives and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian.”

Did your professors have you skip over all the high-court decisions right up till the mid 1900’s that echoed and reinforced these views and intentions? Did you pick up the history of American jurisprudence only in 1947, when for the first time a phrase coined by Thomas Jefferson about a “wall of separation between church and state” was used to deny some specific religious expression – contrary to Jefferson’ s intent with that statement?

Or, wait a minute . were your ideas about America’s Christianity formed during the 20 years you were a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ under your pastor, Jeremiah Wright? Is that where you got the idea that ” America is no longer a Christian nation”? Is this where you, even as you came to call yourself a Christian, formed the belief that “America has been arrogant”?

Even if that’s the understandable explanation of your damning of your country and accusing the whole nation (not just a few military officials trying their best to keep more Americans from being murdered by jihadists) of “not always living up to her ideals,” how did you come up with the ridiculous, alarming notion that we might be “considered a Muslim nation”?

Is it because there are some 2 million or more Muslims living here, trying to be good Americans? Out of a current population of over 300 million, 70 percent of whom are Christians? Does that make us, by any rational definition, a “Muslim nation”?

Why are we not, then, a “Chinese nation”? A “Korean nation”? Even a “Vietnamese nation”? There are even more of these distinct groups in America than Muslims. And if the distinction you’re trying to make is a religious one, why is America not “a Jewish nation”? There’s actually a case to be made for the latter, because our Constitution – and the success of our Revolution and founding – owe a deep debt to our Jewish brothers.

Have you stopped to think what an actual Muslim America would be like? Have you ever really spent much time in Iran? Even in Egypt? You, having been instructed in Islam as a kid at a Muslim school in Indonesia and saying you still love the call to evening prayers, can surely picture our nation founded on the Quran, not the Judeo-Christian Bible, and living under Shariah law. Can’t you? You do recall Muhammad’s directives [Surah 9:5,73] to “break the cross” and “kill the infidel”?

It seems increasingly and painfully obvious that you are more influenced by your upbringing and questionable education than most suspected.. If you consider yourself the president of a people who are “no longer Christian,” who have “failed to live up to our ideals,” who “have been arrogant,” and might even be “considered Muslim” – you are president of a country most Americans don’t recognize.

Could it be you are a president without a country?

True confessions from America’s census workers

President Obama’s politicized, profligate U.S. census drive is so desperate for positive press that it has now recruited former Bush senior adviser Karl Rove to do public service announcements. Rove pleads on video: “Please answer the 10 easy questions. They’re almost the same ones Madison helped write for the first census back in 1790.” Message: If you don’t join the census bandwagon, James Madison will have lost!

Sorry, Mr. Rove. Playing the Founding Fathers card isn’t going to quell conservative criticism of how the Obama administration has exploited the census boondoggle for both economic and ideological gain.

For the record, I have no beef with the constitutional mandate. I complied by filling out my census form and sending it back — with “American” in the blank for race/ethnicity to register my opposition to government racial classifications. Despite apocalyptic suggestions by census officials and some Republican politicians that conservatives are recklessly boycotting the decennial head count, analysis by both the right-leaning Daily Caller and left-leaning Plum Line websites shows that return rates from conservative counties are in line with national averages.

So, what makes the Obama census campaign different from other census programs? First, its naked, left-wing special-interest pandering. The White House is championing a “Queer the Census” movement by pro-gay marriage groups, for example, and the Commerce Department is working with open-borders leaders who want to use the census as leverage to stop all immigration raids.

The electoral stakes are high. Some $400 billion in federal funding and, most importantly, the apportionment of congressional seats are up for grabs. Instead of straightforward enumeration of the American population, Obama and the left’s identity politics-mongers are turning the $1 billion, taxpayer-subsidized census public relations drive into a government-preferences lobbying bonanza.

More galling: the White House manipulation of census worker employment to goose the jobless rate. Last week, the government touted employment figures bolstered by the hiring of temporary workers for Census 2010. The Census Bureau anticipates it may add nearly 750,000 workers to its payroll by May. Liberal economist Heidi Shierholz exulted in The Hill: “This is the best-timed census you could ever dream of.” And Team Obama plans to milk it for all it’s worth.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve received e-mails from census workers across the country describing the directive from their managers to slow down, stall, waste time and stretch out their work unnecessarily. As a counter-public service announcement, I’m reprinting some of their letters:

- “…I have been working with the census for two weeks, and every day I shake my head at the blatant inefficiency and deliberate misuse of taxpayer money. Specifically, we have been doing enumeration for those who do not have a home, the homeless in shelters, soup kitchens and in targeted non-sheltered outdoor locations, such as parks, subway stations, etc. I personally have been sent to check on shelters that were already determined to be day programs during the preceding round of quality control, yet they pay me the mileage and hourly wage to go back and make sure that they are still only day programs. I walked through parks and parking lots looking for homeless people to enumerate, not even by talking to them, but just by observing their race, sex and approximate age….

“…The way the process has been set up by government bureaucracy is so backward and prevents a person who is industrious and efficient from being able to work freely….This is the first job where I am encouraged to be slow and inefficient.”

- “Last summer I participated in the ‘address canvassing’ (AC) project. What this entailed was walking around a neighborhood, literally door to door, with a little handheld computer. My job was not to enter addresses so that these people could receive their form, but to make sure that the addresses that the first wave of people put into the system and appeared on the computer were actually there….Mostly, it was me getting paid $15.25/hour plus mileage to take my dog for a walk and push a few buttons.

“In an average suburban neighborhood where the houses are somewhat close to each other, it was no problem to do about 35 to 40 addresses per hour once you learned how to quickly enter data into the computer. The census said that I should be doing about 12 to 15 per hour. My direct bosses told me that I should NOT be doing 35 to 40, because it was making them and other people look bad. So instead of walking at a snail’s pace, I just did my 35 to 40/hour and doubled my time when I submitted my hours. Again, sorry for the tax dollar grab, but I was told not to be so darned efficient or else I’d be cut!”

- “I had the great pleasure of working for the address canvassing last spring. I was hired in early April for a job that was to be completed by the first week of July. I have a military background and a background in human resources, and the whole process left me with blood squirting from my eyes….I worked in the field for four days so that I would know what to do. The remainder of my time was spent sitting in a McDonald’s to have a daily progress meeting with each of the enumerators. I was paid from the time I left my house to the time I got home…plus mileage. I was told to pad the time or mileage to cover my McDonald’s food, since I was camping in a booth all day. For all that, I was paid $11.75 an hour….We had a really good crew and were done by the second week of May….Philadelphia was going nuts because our region was getting done so fast, but there was nothing we could do to slow it down another two months.

“… I never saw such a mismanaged outfit in all my life. I just shook my head in total disbelief. Our work could have been done with half the people. We did have those that quit right after training, to the tune of $800 spent on nothing. I earned approximately $3,000. I will say, to be quite honest, it was the easiest money I ever made. On the exit interview, I was asked if I wanted to be called back for further work. I wrote ‘NO’ in big letters. I didn’t want to take any further part in what I saw to be a racket.”

What would Madison think now?

If you’re like me, President Obama’s condescending tone
during Wednesday’s State of the Union address became annoying.

He upbraided the Republican minority; he chastised his own
party’s legislators; he publically excoriated the United
States Supreme Court; he blasted former administrations;
and he told the Joint Chiefs of Staff exactly how it was
going to be on the explosive issue of homosexuals openly
serving in the military.

In fact, the only government official who remained above
blame for any of the nation’s problems was… himself.

The closest President Obama came to accepting personal
responsibility was to admit that on the healthcare issue he
was culpable for, “…not explaining it more clearly to the
American people.”

As if anyone could explain the 2,000-plus pages of each
version of the ObamaCare bills!  I am deeply concerned that
the Obama White House, which has done so much to dominate
Congress and manipulate the legislative process, is now
openly attacking the judicial branch!

++Political attacks on Justices Alito and Roberts

The President’s public humiliation of Supreme Court Justices
seated in front of the Democratic side of the chamber was
outrageous.  The impact of his strong criticism of their
recent decision in “Citizens United v. Federal Election
Commission” brought Democrats leaping to their feet to
join his condemnation!

The Justices were forced to endure the sustained applause of
his criticism – and then hear his emphatic promise to
circumvent their decision!  This breach of civility had
the effect of intimidating the Supreme Court Justices.

This political theater was painful to watch and constituted
a serious affront to the Constitution’s separation of powers.

Just two days later, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), President
Obama’s chief advocate and “water carrier” in the United
States Senate, began complaining to the press that both
Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito had “misled”
Congress during their confirmation hearings.

The chorus then grew to include Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA)
and Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

The political point?  Don’t think about crossing the
tyrannical Obama/Pelosi/Reid power axis, even if you’re
seated on the highest Court in the land!

++One more reason why we MUST “Take Back America”

After watching the President’s new “combative posture” he
displayed in the State of the Union address, I have become
more committed than ever to Liberty Counsel’s campaign
for a return to national sanity.

We cannot allow the radical Obama/Pelosi/Reid power axis
to take any more ground!

The 2010 State of the Union address made it perfectly clear
that President Obama and his crowd are not going to give up
on ANYTHING they said they wanted from the beginning -
including Cap and Trade, the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t
Tell,” passage of the discredited ObamaCare legislation,
and all the other frightening proposals the President
laboriously mentioned in his speech.

We want to tell the media, our elected representatives,
government bureaucrats – and whoever else needs to hear
about it – that tens of thousands of Americans REFUSE to
stand silently by while socialist Democrats take our
nation apart, plank by plank!

If President Obama gets even a small part of the radical
agenda he poured over for more than an hour on Wednesday
night, America will be in grave danger of becoming a
socialist nation!

America will experience change this year.  The question is
what kind of change.  Will it be the radicalism of Obama, or
will it be a return to the sound principles of the Founders?

President Obama and Eric Holder defy logic and emphasize arrogance!

Today Eric Holder announced that the planners of the 9/11 attack on US soil by radical Islamist will be brought to New York to be tried in a civilian court. These individuals confessed to murdering in excess of 3500 Americans and destroying property. Ask yourself how can the President of the United States and the US Attorney General so disrespect the families of the murdered and the people of the United States.

President Obama seeks to destroy the United States of America, as we know it, a place of “liberty and justice for all…” where freedom and free enterprise abounds. A cold calculating president and congress destroying the very fibers of home and family, imposing trillions of dollars of debt on our unborn descendents by assuming powers not authorized or granted by the Constitution of the United States.  How is this hope and change working out for you?

Where is the moral integrity of the American population, why are we so lackadaisical, about the destruction of our great nation?  Blinded by our greed and desire for material things rather than truth and honesty in our government we cow down rather than stand for what is right.  “False teaching is the root of ruined homes and nations.”  “We are called to rebuke false teaching and affirm the truth.”

It is imperative that we speak the truth about the terrible tragedy that occurred at Fort Hood, Texas not sweep the facts under the rug.  President Obama and congress must be held accountable by the public because it is obvious that the media is parroting the party line.  It is my hope that the few representatives and senators with integrity will speak out for an honest and through investigation. The courage of our brave men and women in the military are beyond reproach, it is through their unselfish dedication to service that enables our gutless media, entertainment industry, self-sufficing politicians and greedy businesses to pursue their selfless path.

Do not stand by and allow everything you hold dear and precious to be taken from you and destroyed by the vortex of sewage in Washington.  Hold your representatives and Senators accountable; let them know your thoughts on their actions and votes.

Yesterday President Obama’s team repeated what I believe is the most outrageous lie of his Administration.

The President and his team again claimed the stimulus has “saved” 150,000 jobs during a time when 1.6 million jobs were actually lost!

This is the same BALD-FACED LIE Obama has been telling since last November — when his plan to “create” jobs was carefully morphed into a plan to “save or create” jobs.

That small change has given Obama the ability to claim that his programs are working even when they are failing!

No matter how bad the economy gets, or how high unemployment rises, Obama and his team can simply CLAIM that their massive stimulus spending still “saved” jobs.

But it is a bald-faced lie!

And we have the proof.

In January, Obama announced his big-spending “stimulus” would “save or create at least 3 million jobs by the end of 2010.” Obama justified this by saying his spending PLAN would cause unemployment to be lower than what economists were projecting.

But the opposite has happened… unemployment has soared to 9.4 percent in May and hundreds of thousands more jobs have been lost than had been originally projected pre-stimulus.

Yet Obama still claims to have “saved” 150,000 jobs. In fact, using Obama’s own warped logic, there is a better case to be made that Obama has DESTROYED hundreds of thousands of jobs since the economy is WORSE than what was expected.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and ‘class’, always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America’ crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

The U.S. Department of Injustice

The U.S. Department of Justice seal bears a Latin phrase: “Qui Pro Domina Justitia Sequitur.” The motto refers to the attorney general, “who prosecutes on behalf of Lady Justice.” But under President Barack Obama’s politically corrupt DOJ, Lady Justice is getting the shaft.

To wit: Let’s examine the uproar over Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to protect hate-mongering thugs who harassed and bullied precinct workers and voters on Election Day in Philadelphia.

Oh, wait. There’s been no uproar. Let me tell you why.

Two weeks ago, in a highly unusual move, Holder dismissed default judgments his department had won against two of three defendants charged with violating the Voting Rights Act. On Nov. 4, 2008, a billy club-wielding militant in military-style boots and beret stood outside a Philly polling location with a similarly dressed partner. Citizen journalists from the Pennsylvania-based blog Election Journal captured the menacing duo on video. One of the watchdogs observed: “I think it might be a little intimidating that you have a stick in your hand.” (See related article)

That was an understatement. Witness Bartle Bull, a Democratic lawyer who organized for Bobby Kennedy and worked for the civil rights movement in Mississippi, signed a sworn affidavit decrying the Election Day brutishness. Serving as a poll watcher that day, he called the behavior of Samir Shabazz and Jerry Jackson “the most blatant form of voter discrimination I have encountered in my life.”

One of them, Bull reported, taunted poll observers: “You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”

If the pair had been dressed in white sheets, pandemonium would have broken loose. But the ebony-clad thugs were members of the New Black Panther Party who had been dispatched by Malcolm X wannabe Malik Shabazz to “guard” the polls. Translation: Protect them from scrutiny. Shield them from sunlight. Keep independent voters and observers out.

Who is Malik Shabazz? The bespectacled race hustler grabbed the spotlight in the weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks by defending Osama bin Laden, blaming President Bush for 9/11, bashing Israel and blasting our Founding Fathers as “snakes.” His group also infamously rallied behind the Duke University lacrosse rape hoaxer. And on the day before the presidential election last fall, one of Shabazz’s “field marshals,” Minister Najee Muhammad, held a “black power” rally promising to send his forces to polls across the country “to ensure that the enemy does not sabotage the black vote.”

The Bush DOJ filed suit against Malik Shabazz, Samir Shabazz and Jerry Jackson in early January 2009. None of the defendants filed an answer to the lawsuit, putting them all into default. Instead of taking the default judgment that DOJ is entitled to against all of the defendants, the Obama team fully dismissed the lawsuits against Malik Shabazz and Jackson. Jackson, you should know, is an elected member of the Philadelphia Democratic Committee and was a credentialed poll watcher. Witness Greg Lugones told me, “Obama campaign operatives were on site throughout the entire episode.”

Former Justice Department official and voting rights scholar Hans von Spakovsky added: “I have never heard of the Department dismissing a case it has already won by default. They have…sent the message that hurling racial epithets and slurs at voters and intimidating and threatening voters at the polls is fine with the Holder Justice Department — at least if you are African-American. I seriously doubt that would have happened if the races had been reversed in this case.”

Exactly. And the harassment was aimed not just at voters, but at white poll workers trying to ensure a fair and lawful process in a city infamous for machine politics and street money pollution.

Who are the racial cowards, Holder?

On the heels of this voter intimidation protection plan, the Obama Justice Department issued another decision that undermines electoral integrity — but bolsters Democratic voter drives. The department this week denied the state of Georgia the ability to enact strict citizenship voter-verification rules previously approved by two federal courts. As Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel explained: “DOJ has thrown open the door for activist organizations such as ACORN to register non-citizens to vote in Georgia’s elections, and the state has no ability to verify an applicant’s citizenship status or whether the individual even exists.”

On top of all that, Holder recently politicized the legal review process involving the contentious issue of DC voting rights. After careful study, the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) issued an opinion that a House bill on the matter was unconstitutional. Holder, who supports DC voting rights along with Obama, overrode his staff lawyers’ ruling — and simply ordered up an alternative opinion that fit the White House agenda.

Lady Justice is now protected by a security force armed with billy clubs and lawyers who serve the cause of protecting the re-election of Barack Obama over the rule of law.

This doesn’t require any comment from me except perhaps to answer the question the Brit asks at the end of his commentary. The reason Obama hates America so badly is because it represents everything that he opposes. Freedom, liberty, capitalism, prosperity.

This Englishman has hit the nail on the head. Seems like people overseas have a better sense of what is going on in the White House than most Americans have. As I have said over and over again. “May GOD have mercy on America”.

If al-Qaeda, the Taliban and the rest of the Looney Tunes brigade want to kick America to death, they had better move in quickly and grab a piece of the action before Barack Obama finishes the job himself. Never in the history of the United States has a president worked so actively against the interests of his own people – not even Jimmy Carter.

Obama’s problem is that he does not know who the enemy is. To him, the enemy does not squat in caves in Waziristan, clutching automatic weapons and reciting the more militant verses from the Koran: instead, it sits around at tea parties in Kentucky quoting from the US Constitution. Obama is not at war with terrorists, but with his Republican fellow citizens. He has never abandoned the campaign trail.

That is why he opened Pandora’s Box by publishing the Justice Department’s legal opinions on waterboarding and other hardline interrogation techniques. He cynically subordinated the national interest to his partisan desire to embarrass the Republicans. Then he had to rush to Langley , Virginia to try to reassure a demoralised CIA that had just discovered the President of the United States was an even more formidable foe than al-Qaeda.

“Don’t be discouraged by what’s happened the last few weeks,” he told intelligence officers. Is he kidding? Thanks to him, al-Qaeda knows the private interrogation techniques available to the US intelligence agencies and can train its operatives to withstand them – or would do so, if they had not already been outlawed.

So, next time a senior al-Qaeda hood is captured, all the CIA can do is ask him nicely if he would care to reveal when a major population centre is due to be hit by a terror spectacular, or which American city is about to be irradiated by a dirty bomb. Your view of this situation will be dictated by one simple criterion: whether or not you watched the people jumping from the twin towers…

Obama’s Stimulus Creates Useless Jobs

There’s one reason, and one reason only, that President Barack Obama’s “stimulus” passed so swiftly through Congress: Most Americans are worried about their jobs. And Barack Obama promises to save or create four million jobs.

Even Obama’s most ardent opponents embrace the “make jobs” programs embedded in the stimulus. “Construction projects that put people to work, that fits the bill,” Sarah Palin told Greta Van Susteran of Fox News. “But these big, huge, expanded social programs … that’s not right, that’s not fair.”

Neither Republicans nor Democrats get it. The problem isn’t just the pork barrel social welfare spending. It’s not merely the redistributionist scheme disguised as “tax cuts.” The public relations backbone of this bill—government spending on our nation’s “crumbling infrastructure”—is misguided. While the country’s infrastructure may need revamping, this sort of spending will not stimulate the economy. It will not create the kind of jobs Americans need.

When politicians embrace government “make jobs” programs, they demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding of the role of employment in the economy. The goal of a thriving economy isn’t full employment—it’s raising the standard of living. Employment rate means nothing if the jobs it measures do not create wealth for the economy.

During the Great Depression (1930-1940), the United States had an average unemployment rate of almost 18 percent; the USSR, by contrast, had “full employment.” And yet when the Oscar-nominated movie “The Grapes of Wrath,” chronicling the Great Depression, premiered in 1941, the USSR banned the movie for the simple reason that the poverty-stricken Joads owned a car—a luxury virtually no Soviet outside the government enjoyed. Full employment did not breed prosperity.

That’s because not all jobs are created equal. Valuable jobs provide products and services the free market supports; useless jobs provide products and services the free market would not support. Valuable jobs provide products and services that enrich quality of life, making it cheaper to live better; useless jobs provide products and services that have minor impact on quality of life.

Here’s the magic of private sector jobs. Imagine Bill owns a fruit stand. He sells his fruit for $2 per pound. Herman sees that Bill is doing well, and decides to open a fruit stand of his own. He figures he can undercut Bill and live on less of a profit margin, so he sells his fruit at $1 per pound. Pretty soon, Herman runs Bill out of business. It’s tough for Bill.

But meanwhile, customers are spending $1 less for their fruit than they were. They’re spending that extra money at Bob’s clothing store, keeping Bob employed—and Bob can now hire Bill. The bottom line is this: The power of free enterprise creates competition that raises production, lowers prices, and makes lives better for consumers and producers. And that’s true even if employment declines in the fruit stand business.

Now let’s look at government jobs. Imagine Cool Hand Luke works for the government as a menial laborer. He builds roads in New York. People don’t choose to pay Cool Hand Luke—the government forces them to pay his salary.

Now, certain people in New York may benefit from the new road. But they would rather have spent their cash on a new car, or a new computer, or a new business. And the people who live in California, who are also paying Cool Hand Luke, get nothing for their money. Their quality of life is not improved one iota. The bottom line is this: The government can always provide employment, but that employment will not benefit the public nearly as much as a private sector job would.

Americans instinctively understand that quality of life matters far more than employment rate—and that only valuable jobs increase quality of life. That is why Americans oppose Obama’s “stimulus” package.

According to the latest Rasmussen poll, 53 percent of Americans think the “stimulus” will either fail to stimulate or actually hurt the economy. Unsurprisingly, the only sector of the American economy that overwhelmingly supports the stimulus plan is government employees, by a margin of 49 percent to 24 percent.

And yet our politicians think they can appease us by offering us useless jobs. They think investment bankers will be happy to staff the bureaucracy at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. They believe Americans will be glad to subsidize Caterpillar Inc. Employees, rather than putting that cash in their own checking accounts.

Obama might prevent rising unemployment. After all, so did President Jimmy Carter. But he’ll do so at the cost of private sector employment. Americans will pay the price in standard of living—but at least they can say they have a job, no matter how useless.

The key question is not whether America will recover from the current managed economic decline, but whether America will be allowed to recover.

And the key factors that will determine are whether we will have a free market economy, or a socialist economy dominated by vastly expanded and empowered unions, cap and trade, and a great deal of new taxes and regulations.

Obama’s new jobs program has gotten off to a good start, as he’s busy running Chrysler into the ground. After slashing Chrysler’s ad budget by 50 percent, the company will also be closing nearly 1/4th of its dealerships, killing 38,000 jobs.

But don’t worry, while 38,000 small business jobs may have been lost… but Obama’s UAW supporters will keep their jobs. And that of course was the whole point.

Use taxpayer money to bail out and handover auto companies to the UAW, and kill the dealerships. After all when the auto companies are government subsidized, who needs to sell the actual cars themselves?

But now maybe some of the 38,000 people who lost their jobs for Obama can get jobs in his booming new government employment sector, so long as they have useful skills, such as recording the GPS addresses of people’s homes, rubber stamping forms or helping Rahm Emanuel and the great people at ACORN makes this the very best census ever!

Of course people with actual useful skills or sales experience need not apply. That’s for the capitalist scum in the old ugly racist America. Not the happy cheerful new America that uses taxpayer funds to take over and gut American companies and turn them into lifetime employment packages for the supporters of the Beloved Leader.

And all the while Obama is pushing 60,000 new government jobs, making sure that all of America winds up with the prosperously bankrupt union tick infested economy that California already enjoys.

Meanwhile The Shining One is making sure that Israel doesn’t attack Iran without notifying him, which is much the same as notifying Iran itself. Especially considering some of Obama’s appointees, whose sympathies are not exactly subtle.

Meanwhile everyone on down is pressuring Israel to implement a Two State Solution ASAP, regardless of the fact that would mean creating a terrorist state inside Israel, whose leadership would include Hamas, and which has never demonstrated any willingness to stop being terrorists.

The blackmail card of course is Iran.

Speaking of radicalism and anti-semitism, the Jewish Press has an article by Rabbi Avi Weiss, traveling to the embattled Jewish community in the heart of Hugo Chavez’s radical left wing dictatorship, and what life for Jews and Catholics looks like under Hugo.

I’m traveling with Shmuel Herzfeld, rabbi of the National Synagogue in Washington, D.C.; Adam Scheier, senior rabbi of Shaar Hashomayim in Montreal; and Gabe Ledeen, a former U.S. Marine who did two tours of duty in Iraq…

Our first stop is Congregation Tiferet Yisrael, the largest Sephardi synagogue, which was defiled on January 31. It was a raid carefully orchestrated by nineteen assailants, a kind of commando attack. For me, it points to deep complicity on the part of the government. It’s not only that Chavez’s anti-Semitic rhetoric created a climate that inspired these attacks, it was much more. I believe this was virtually state-sponsored terror…

Some U.S. defense agencies feel congressional hearings could result in a backlash against Venezuelan Jewry. So powerful is this position that it has been adopted by my own congressman, Rep. Eliot Engel, whom I consider not only a dear friend but the strongest supporter of Israel in Congress today. As chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Rep. Engel is in a position to call for these hearings, but has decided not to do so because Venezuelan Jewry opposes it.

Here I saw and heard how well-meaning people in the American Jewish establishment had misrepresented the views of Venezuelan Jews. The position that Venezuelan Jews oppose congressional hearings is simply false. We closed the meeting holding hands around the table as we sang “Am Yisrael Chai.”

In fact, the Venezuelan community has conducted itself during these difficult times in the spirit of “the people of Israel live.” When Chavez demanded the Jewish community condemn Israel for the Gaza war, it adamantly refused.

“We are Zionists,” the leadership of CAIV proclaimed, “we stand and will always stand with Israel.”

When he voted against the confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts in 2005, Obama declared that the “truly difficult” cases that come before the Supreme Court can be decided only with reference to “the depth and breadth of one’s empathy,” and that “the critical ingredient is supplied by what is in the judge’s heart.”

But such cardiac justice is precisely what judges “do solemnly swear” to renounce. Sympathy for others is an admirable virtue, but a judge’s private commiserations are not relevant to the law he is expected to apply.

If Obama means what he says, he wants judges who can be counted on to violate their oath of office.

“We need somebody who’s got the heart — the empathy — to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom,” he told a Planned Parenthood conference in 2007. “The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges.”

With such criteria, what would remain of the rule of law? What would happen to “Equal Justice Under Law,” which is carved above the Supreme Court’s entrance? What would be left of the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of “equal protection of the laws” to every citizen?

That amendment of course is in shoddy shape already, along with much of the Constitution. What’s left then is a Victim Value Index, and class and racial warfare, the key ingredients of the left’s current rise to power in America.

At Canada Free Press, Tony Magana suggests that Congress should investigate the McKiernan firing, and has a different take on it from that of the mainstream media.

Just this week, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said she “deeply, deeply” regretted the loss of civilians in Western Afghanistan which the Red Cross counted as 120 from American military actions. Afghan President Hamid Karzai had called the deaths “unacceptable ” which occurred while he was in Washington DC meeting with President Obama.

Gen. David McKiernan disagreed with President Karzai that these most recent deaths were the result of American military action. His staff said that American Marines were assisting Afghan forces who had been ambushed and blamed the civilian casualties on the Taliban. The Associated Press says two senior officials who wished to remain anonymous stated that a Taliban leader had ordered his men to use hand grenades on the civilians.

This list reads like a Who’s Who of leading Islamists in the United States, all of whom share the ideological framework of political Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Now that anyone should be surprised after the Muslim Brotherhood, read Hamas and Al Queda, were represented at Obama’s Inauguration.
